i finally found an internship for my summer credits of business school. it's pretty hard to find a good internship, considering it can only be a maximum of about 3-4 months; something employers don't like to hear ("i'm gonna leave your ass high and dry and go back to school in 3 months, but thanx for the opportunity to learn something from your company and get paid for it"). it's even harder to find a paid internship at that...nobody wants an employee (of management level) that they know is going to leave them soon, which is why most internships out there are for BS work, like u're somebody's bitch, laborer or "run-around" guy, doing nothing but scratching ur ass all day long.
so, fortunately, i did find an internship that i can actually use my brain and MBA experience for; however, it is non-paid, which kinda gets to me, but then again the internship is a requirement to get the MBA degree so i'll have to just swallow it and shutup for a couple months.
so the job includes business development of a website that allows businesses and individual consumers to upload important files to purchased hard-disk space on this website. i saw the site's user interface and layout during my interview and it actually looks really great, which is one of the biggest reasons i'd like to be a part of it. the other reason is that it's not BS work i'd be involved in; on the contrary, i'd actually be doing business development, knowledge management and maybe even some marketing for the new site. so i guess it's bittersweet...i'd be doing something fruitful and accomplishing, but i wouldn't get paid, which still stings (pretty badly.....o man, it hurts).
for those more interested in the site, imagine your own external hard-drive space managed by someone through a web server, which you have web access to. to actually transfer files, the company has created a very (or so it seemed at first look) easy-to-use user interface, and simple design layout. you can even drag and drop files within the site to other folders in your account within the site (but can't drag and drop files from your computer desktop to the site...that'll be a huge step though, but i have yet to see something like that). so basically u upload a root folder onto this site and then once it's done uploading, u can view everything in that root folder WITHIN the website, exactly as it looks in your own computer's explorer, and drag and drop things within that view, or just upload more data onto any folder(s) within that main root folder already uploaded onto the site.
that's more rambling than i originally wanted to do, but hopefully the idea got across.

lazy TA
ok...here's my spiel.
im in this information technology class (geared toward the MBA) and we're supposed to take these 10min quizzes during the beginning of each class that have to do with the assigned readings due for that class. now, im going to write this because im extremely frustrated with the process by which the grading of these quizzes is performed. the irony here is that the course revolves around business process reengineering, for processes in businesses that are dysfunctional and need major redesigning.
so the professor's TA just takes the quizzes and depending on how HE FEELS we answered the question decides to take off however many points he believes we don't deserve. no explanations, no justifications....NOTHING. and what people don't understand is that i don't even care about the grade, because each quiz makes up literally 1 point out of hundreds that determine my overall grade in the class. the thing that bothers me is that i am someone who actually does care WHY someone believes i don't deserve the benefit of feeling like i properly accomplished a task that i set out to do. i ALSO CARE about referring to my quizzes for correct answers that will help me complete my final exam in the class (which is a take-home, open note/book exam). the problem now is that i don't know WHY i lost points on the quizzes, so i can't use the answers from those quizzes to answer hypothetically the same sort of question on the final.
it totally annoys me, and i think for an education that's supposedly worth over $60k i could get some sort of explanation here...maybe some sort of justification as to why those points were taken away and how i can better answer those quiz questions, thereby better answer some final exam questions that very closely match those on the quizzes.
i guess life's just not fair, huh?
ah, that actually feels better!
